Our History

FairHaven Funeral Home was founded with a simple belief: Fort Wayne families deserve compassionate, local, and authentic funeral care. After decades of serving the community, our partner-directors realized that something important had gone missing—a truly hometown funeral home experience guided by people who live here, know the community, and understand what families need during times of loss.

Mark Scheidt, Jarod Steffen, Lucas Glessner, and Britton Claghorn came together to create FairHaven Funeral Home, bringing with them more than 80 years of combined experience supporting Fort Wayne families. Their shared commitment to kindness, empathy, and professionalism shaped a new vision for funeral service—one grounded in personal connection, trusted local ownership, and care that always puts families first.

Guided by the belief that love, support, and human connection are the foundation of healing, FairHaven set out to offer a better, more meaningful funeral home experience. From thoughtful facilities to attentive service, every detail reflects our commitment to serving Fort Wayne with dignity, honesty, and respect.

Today, FairHaven Funeral Home continues to honor its founding mission: to provide exceptional funeral and cremation care at a fair price, delivered by people who are proud to call this community home.
