Obituary

Zachary N. Leahy, age 43, passed away while surrounded by family on Monday, January 15, 2024, in Fort Wayne.

Zach was born in Fort Wayne to Pat and Kathy Leahy, who survive. He was a 1998 graduate of Woodlan High School and a 2002 graduate of Purdue University. While in West Lafayette, Zach was a member of the Purdue Marching Band (trumpet) and was active in the local Campus Crusade for Christ. After earning his BS in Mechanical Engineering and before launching his career, Zach felt the call to enter the mission field. He spent a year sharing the saving Gospel of Jesus with others in Germany. Following his time as a missionary, he traveled around Europe before returning home to begin his two-decade career at L3 Harris as an Engineer/Scientist.

In 2006, Zach met the love of his life, Stacey (Farver), whom he would marry in 2007. Their two children, Eleanor and Jude, completed their family of four that was filled with love, laughter, and joy. Whether as a son, husband, father, brother, or uncle, Zach made family a top priority where all felt valued and loved.

Travel was also a passion for Zach that he shared with his family. His many adventures included a motorcycle trip from Indiana to Alaska, visiting 19 national parks, and countless camping trips.

When asked what words would best describe their father, Ella and Jude decided on "loving," "silly," and "selfless." Zach lived his faith through a lifetime of service to others in a variety of forms such as playing guitar for his church's worship team, repairing vehicles for others, or being ready at a moment's notice to lend a hand for any need.

Zach enjoyed a variety of hobbies including restoring antique cars, building or repairing things, playing board games, playing music, working jigsaw puzzles, growing grapes to make his own wine, riding his motorcycle, cooking, and camping. If Zach built something, you know it was built with precision and enough structural integrity to withstand any storm.

Zach is survived by his wife, Stacey Leahy of Churubusco; children, Ella and Jude; parents Pat and Kathy Leahy of Woodburn; brothers, Joe (Michelle) Leahy of Fort Wayne and Ben (Liz) Leahy of Valparaiso, IN; inlaws, Bob, Jr. and Jeri Farver, Misty (Jim) Grubbs, and Sarah (Jared) Staub; 5 nieces; and 3 nephews.
