Walter “Stan” Sorrells, 68, of Calumet City, IL, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Born and raised in Calumet City, Stan was the beloved son of the late Walter and Mary Sorrells. Stan was a man of unwavering faith, devoted to his Lord and Savior. His love for music was evident every time he picked up his guitar, especially during church services where he joyfully played “praise music” alongside his bandmates, sharing his faith through song. Stan’s life revolved around his family and friends. He cherished every moment spent with his fiancé, Carol Armstrong, and the extended family he adored. Stan was a proud step-father to Sean (Kaitlyn Park) Masters and along with Ashley (Henry) Hatfield. He was an adored grandfather to Brody and Mason Masters, Ryland and Briley Hatfield. He delighted in attending their games, cheering them on with the same passion he had for his beloved Chicago Bears. He found joy in simple pleasures, from taking trips to exploring the beauty of Brown County and soaking in the warmth of Florida. Wherever he went, Stan’s love for life, his family, and his faith radiated through his kind heart and gentle spirit. Stan’s memory will forever be cherished by those who knew him. His guitar may now be silent, but the music he created and the faith he inspired will echo in the hearts of those he touched. A celebration of life will be held February 22nd at 1 pm at Praise International 1414 Archer Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46808, where friends and family will gather to honor Stan’s incredible life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Praise International.
