Vernon Eric Lee "V. Man" took eternal rest on December 25, 2021. He was born October 9, 1962, in Fort Wayne, IN to Horace and Rosemary Lee.
Vernon was baptized at an early age at Jerusalem Baptist Church and attended Pilgrim Baptist Church
throughout his childhood years. Vernon was a member of Light of the World, under Pastor Cornelius Hill
until relocating to Indianapolis, IN in 2006. Upon settling in Indianapolis, Vernon attended and joined
New Vision Lighthouse Ministry under Pastor Aaron Boyd Sr. He was a man of God who loved the Lord.
Vernon was also a Free Mason.
Vernon attended Harmar Elementary, Lakeside Middle, and graduated from North Side High School in
1981. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1982 and was Honorably Discharged after his tenure
there. Vernon proceeded to get his Cosmetology license and became certified through Masters of
Cosmetology Fort Wayne, IN in 1990 and utilized his license in being a hair stylist and Barber. After
relocating to Indianapolis, Vernon was able to become an entrepreneur and started his own business, Tailor Made Barber Lounge, where he was the Owner and Master Barber. Just recently in 2021,
Vernon was able to obtain his barber license through A+ Barber School where he also became an
instructor and came into contact with many that he in turn helped and mentored. Vernon also
conducted workshops on clipper cutting and started a Groomsman Service for Wedding parties.
Vernon was a loving father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was known for his laid back, cool, and
positive personality with a bright, beautiful smile. Vernon was a mentor to many and was always willing
to lend an ear and leave you with some wise words and encouragement to think on. He was deeply
loved and respected by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Vernon was a sharp dresser with his own style and a love for hats, shoes, and watches. He was an
absolute humble soul who enjoyed the finer things. Vernon loved reading, shopping, watching movies,
going to concerts, listening to music, his cigars, fellowshipping with colleagues and friends as well as
buying and restoring old school classic cars. Vernon loved spending time with close loved ones
especially his grands. He loved being a Paw Paw.
Vernon leaves to cherish his memory and legacy: his one and only daughter, Creea Woods of Fort
Wayne, IN; sons, Cedric, Corey, and Courtney Woods all of Fort Wayne, IN and Karmon Speed of
Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Dondra Campbell, Trina Coleman (Terry), and Kathy Burnett all of Fort Wayne,
IN; brother, Bill Townes of Fort Wayne, IN; 16 grandchildren: six granddaughters, ten
grandsons; and one great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by parents Horace and Rosemary and an Aunt Mary Ann Hatch
Service is 11:00 am, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Pilgrim Baptist Church with calling one hour prior. Burial at Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services are handling the arrangements.
