Valerie Ann (Moellering) Busse, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Fort Wayne to the late Paul Carl Moellering and Vivien Anne (Becca) Moellering Minier. Valerie was a 1961 graduate of North Side High School. After high school, she was married to Keith Busse and had four children. She was a loving mom and wonderful caregiver as an LPN, where she was appreciated by her peers and patients for her sincerity in care.
Valerie will be remembered for her beauty inside and out, as well as her personable, fun-loving nature (with a touch of mischief), great sense of humor, warmth, and kindness. She was a friend to many and a welcoming neighborhood mom to her children’s friends, all who appreciated her great qualities. As a grandma, she doted on her grandchildren. She was always willing to babysit and help where needed, as well as attending many of their activities. Valerie volunteered as a cookie hostess for many years at the Fort Wayne International Airport, where she greeted travelers with her friendly smile and a cookie. Also, she lent a helping hand at the World Baseball Academy’s annual fundraising silent auction, where she made packages look magical to raise money for the benefit of Fort Wayne’s at-risk youth.
She is survived by her loving children, Dawn (Sam) Zimmerman, Michael (Catherine) Busse, Angela (Chris) Weidler, and Christopher (Michelle) Busse; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Lindy (Richard) Parr and Beverly Thompson.
