Tim "Scooter" Hodgin, 74, formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully at home in Goodyear Arizona on Monday, July 7, 2025, after a very recent diagnosis of cancer.
Tim was born on April 26, 1951, in Winchester Indiana to the late Douglas and Laura Rae Hodgin. He spent most of his youth in the southern Ohio region. His family moved to Fort Wayne when he was 16 and he stayed in Fort Wayne until his move to Arizona in 2020.
Tim was a Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War.
During his working years, Tim started at Essex and worked there for 10 years. Tim then began working as a contractor and remodeling homes, which he did for a few years. Tim then became a truck driver working for various companies including retiring from FedEx Freight in 2013. Tim just couldn't quite retire yet, so he stayed with the company working as a dock associate for a couple of years before fully retiring.
After moving to Arizona, Tim began building sheds in the community that he lived in and enjoyed doing handy man work.
Tim met his wife, Renee, in 1990. They married in 1993 and just celebrated their 32
nd
wedding anniversary in June. During their time together, they rode his various Harley's, had season tickets for the Colts for many years and really enjoyed tailgating at the games.
He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was definitely the cook, griller and fryer of the family.
Tim NEVER turned down having a good time. He loved to have a few cocktails, spend time with family and friends, watch NASCAR, IU Football and Basketball, the Chicago Cubs and listen to classic country and rock and roll.
Tim is survived by his wife Renee (Abel) Hodgin; children, David (Rudy) & Jill (Williams) Hieber, Anna (Hieber) & Jeff Stoppenhagen; grandchildren, Brayden Hieber, Katie Hodgin, Alice Stoppenhagen; brother, James of Fort Wayne; sister, Rebecca of Middleburg, Florida along with several nieces and nephews.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Barbara.
A Celebration of Tim's Life will be on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 3 pm to 7 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 6557 N. Clinton Street Fort Wayne, Indiana.
