Obituary

Sergeant First Class Thomas Henry "Tom" Skevington, Junior, passed away on May 15, 2025, in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Born June 20, 1948, in the same city he called home throughout his life, Tom was 76 years old.

A proud veteran, Tom served his country with distinction as a Sergeant First Classin the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Following his active duty service, he continued his commitment to national defense through a career with the Indiana National Guard, and Indiana Air National Guard. His dedication to service was a defining part of his life, and left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him.

After his military career, Tom worked at General Electric (GE), where he eventually retired. Tom also worked for Wick's Lumber in Fort Wayne, Indiana and K & S Pallet in Fort Wayne, Indiana, bar tending at the American Legion Post 499 and the VFW Post 857. His work ethic and study presence were appreciated by colleagues and friends alike.

Outside of work and service, Tom found joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially fishing and camping, whether casting a line from a quiet riverbank or sharing stories near the water's edge, fishing brought him peace and connection to nature. Tom was known for his one liners, which always kept you shaking your head and guessing.

Tom's Legacy lives on through his children: Jennifer Thomas of Fort Wayne, IN Todd Skevington (wife Emily) of Fort Wayne, IN,  Leisa Skevington of Las Vegas, NV, Patrick Skevington of Fort Wayne, IN and Desiree Romero ( husband Tony) of Fort Wayne, IN.

Thomas had 11 grandchildren, Christian Braumberger,  Autumn Skevington, Jacqueline Skevington, Kayla Skevington, Morgan Thomas, Alivia Thomas, Izabella Wilson, Kennedy Romero, Alexander Skevington, and Savannah Romero. Thomas also had four great grandchildren, Soleil Lockhart, Liam Braumberger, Lorelei Glasser, and Emma Chanthachak. He is also remembered by his siblings: Stephen Skevington of Bradenton, FL, Jane Miller (husband Mitch), Ann Antoine of Largo, FL, Barbara Boyles of Rome City, IN and Mark Skevington of Columbia City, IN.

He was proceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Rita Skevington, Senior, and his granddaughter Eliana Kosina of Fort Wayne, IN, brother-in-law, Darwin Boyles of  Rome City, IN, sister-in- law, Jacqueline Skevington of Bradenton, FL, and brother-in-law, Richard Antoine of Largo, FL.

May the memory of Sergeant First Class Thomas "Tom" Henry Skevington bring comfort to those who knew him.
