Thelma J. McCool, 101, of Huntertown, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026. She was born in Kokomo, IN on June 12, 1925 to the late Alba and Ressie (Fife) Newport. She retired from Magnavox. Thelma loved dogs and enjoyed crafting.

Thelma is survived by her children, Daniel (Tina) O’Vadka of Peru, IN, Thomas McCool of Titusville, FL, and Barbara Reece of Huntertown; step-daughter, Marsha Galpern of Winter Garden, FL; grandchildren, Allyson (Austin) Weimer of Fort Wayne; Adam (Hannah Castleman) Reece of New Haven; step-granddaughter, Lisa Himmel of Naperville, IL; special niece, Lisa Southworth of Huntington; and her beloved dog, Annie.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles McCool; son, Terry O’Vadka; and siblings, David Newport, Paul Newport, Adonis Eikenberry, Pat Duncan and Geneva Pauline Calveard.

Upon Thelma’s wishes there will be no services. A private family graveside service will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dekalb Humane Society.
