Ted B. Erick IV, born March 12, 1953, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 31, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, service, and curiosity,
A devoted husband, Ted shared 46 wonderful years with his wife, Kathleen. Together, they built a loving family that includes their sons Scott (Samantha), Steven (Melissa), and Christopher (Courtney), as well as four cherished grandchildren: Timothy, Clover, Connor, and Bentley. He is also survived by his brothers Jack (Joan) and Ross and preceded in death by his mother Susan Laman, father Ted B. Erick III, brothers Dan and Lance.
Ted served his country with pride as a submariner in the United States Naval Reserve, stationed aboard the USS Benjamin Franklin (SSBN-640). His service continued on land, where he dedicated his career as a Master Electrician, working to illuminate his city through street lighting for 32 years with the City of Fort Wayne.
Beyond his professional and military contributions, Ted was an avid HAM radio operator, always seeking connections across the airwaves. A lifelong enthusiast of science and science fiction, he found joy in exploring the wonders of the universe, both real and imagined.
Ted's legacy of service, intellect, and love for his family will be deeply missed but fondly remembered. his family invited those who knew and loved him to celebrate his life and the impact he had on so many.
A Celebration of Ted's Life will be 4 pm, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 2 pm until the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made out to Humane Fort Wayne, or The American Cancer Society.
