Syphanh Matha, 75, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Sayaboury, Loas, Syphanh was a son of the late Phoumy and Phila Matha. While in Laos, he earned his nursing degree and served as a nurse. He moved to the United States in June of 1979. Syphanh worked for Magnavox prior to working as a custodian for St. John Lutheran Church and SWAC School systems prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Syphanh loved fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family. Surviving are his wife, Onechanh Matha; daughters, Hanefa (Souvannaseng) Phothirath, Khaifa (Steve) Gasdorf; grandchildren, Allara, Alyssa, Ella, Bohden, and Sengfa "Belle", siblings, Maly Sirivath, and AE Matha. Syphanh is preceded in death by his grandson, Sengdoune "Zach" Phothirath. Service is noon, Monday, October 9, 2023 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 10 am until the service.
