Sylvia Marie Schmidt, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN now celebrates her eternal reward with Jesus in heaven. She received loving care at Golden Years Homestead Long Term Care facility and passed away there on Sunday. June 27, 2021.
Sylvia spent her childhood days in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. She graduated from Concordia Lutheran High School in 1950. In 1954 she graduated from Butler University with her Pharmacy degree. Many of her professional years were spent in San Jose, CA and then at Lutheran Homes in Fort Wayne. Sylvia loved to travel with family, especially her mom, and friends. Attending musical performances whenever she could was a highlight for her. She loved following Butler University basketball. A thrill for her was to attend the final games in Butler's championship run for the 2010 NCAA national men's basketball championship. She was actively involved in many professional organizations of pharmacists. She faithfully worshipped and attended Bible classes at St Peter Lutheran Church in Ft Wayne.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elsie Schmidt,. She is survived by her cousins Dianne (Joe) Clendenin of Santa Rosa, CA, Rosie (Bob) Blazek of Greenwood, IN and many more loving cousins and friends.
There was a graveside interment at Lindenwood cemetery in Fort Wayne Thursday, on July 1, at 11 a.m. Her family requests your presence at a celebration of Sylvia's life at 11 am at St. Peter Lutheran Church (7710 E. State Blvd Fort Wayne, IN) on August 19, 2021. There will be a luncheon and time for fellowship immediately following the service, at the church. Memorial gifts honoring Sylvia can be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church. Arrangements entrusted to FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
