Obituary

Suzanne Marie “Sue” Rhen, 78, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving husband on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sue was a daughter of the late Edward and Loretta (Deininger) Meinzen.
Sue graduated from Bishop Luers High School and later fulfilled a lifelong dream by earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Saint Francis after her children were grown. Her pursuit of higher education reflected her determination, creativity, and passion for the arts.
Sue married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Rhen, on July 24, 1971. From the moment they exchanged vows and Chuck kissed his bride, their marriage became a beautiful love story that spanned the next 55 years. Together they built a life filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.
During her working years, Sue was employed by the Social Security Administration in downtown Fort Wayne and later with PNC Bank. While she enjoyed her professional career, her true passion was art. Sue possessed a remarkable creative spirit and found joy in expressing herself through painting and photography. Her floral artwork especially Iris flowers reflected her appreciation for beauty, while her photography captured the world through a unique and imaginative lens. Whether photographing a winter landscape or creating a piece of artwork, Sue had a gift for helping others see beauty in the ordinary.
Sue especially loved the colder months and looked forward to fresh snowfalls, finding inspiration in the peaceful beauty of nature. She could often be found with a camera in hand, capturing scenes that reflected both her artistic eye and her appreciation for God's creation.
More than anything, Sue treasured the life she shared with Chuck. He was her greatest supporter, encouraging her talents and celebrating her creativity throughout their years together. Their love and devotion to one another remained constant through every season of life.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Charles “Chuck” Rhen; sons, Bret Wayne Rhen and Vern Edward Rhen; grandchildren, Mason Johnathan Rhen, Drake Truman Rhen, and Jolyn Christine Rhen; siblings, Paula Volz, Edward (Roberta) Meinzen, and Monica Wolfe; along with many extended family members and friends.
Private family services will be held.
Entombment will take place at Lindenwood Cemetery.
FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
I can’t wait to whisper 000 “sweat nothings in your ear.” Chuck
