Sue Ann Chaille, 81, passed away peacefully in Fort Wayne on July 20, 2023, after an extended illness. Ann was born on December 9, 1941, to George and Maurine (Campbell) Hitz. She grew up in Anderson, Indiana, and was one of the first graduates of Madison Heights High School. She graduated from Depauw University. She worked as a schoolteacher in Denver, Colorado, and for the Head Start program in Madison County. She also donated her time to Kappa Alpha Theta and the Victoria Guild, among other organizations.
She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Jim Chaille, with whom she shared a love of family, the outdoors, backpacking, and Notre Dame football. She is also survived by her three children, Thomas (Holly) Chaille, Peter (Lindsay) Chaille, and Kathryn (Geoff) Clarke, all of Fort Wayne, her four grandchildren, and her sisters Barb Hitz and Jane Sasser. She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia (Hitz) Gallamore.
Jim and the family are very appreciative of the kindness of the amazing people at Park Place Senior Living Memory Care and Promedica hospice.
The family will be celebrating her life privately. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.
