Steve Brookhart, 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in Fort Wayne. He was born in Decatur, Indiana to the late Gilbert and Maryanna Brookhart.
Steve proudly served his country as a US Navy Veteran. He loved to be outdoors and had a strong passion for hunting, fishing, playing golf and pickleball. He set an example of hard work and dedication to whatever he did. He will be remembered as a servant who loved to help those around him. He could fix just about anything and would drop what he was doing to help someone in need.
Steve is survived by his wife of over 14 years, Carrie Brookhart; children, Tricia (Christopher) Hopkins, and Benjamin (Meredith) Brookhart: stepson, Douglas (Angie) Hussett; stepdaughters, Shanna (Chad) Sharp, Kristy Boglarsky; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Jim (Susie) Brookhart, Ken (Jan) Brookhart, and Pam (Doug) Wray.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Brookhart; and grandson, Jackson Brookhart.
A celebration of life will take place on May 9, 2026, located at Fairhaven Funeral Home (6557 N. Clinton Street) from 1 to 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving any memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
