Shirley Austin Allen, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on July 8, 1937 in Cookeville, Tennessee, Shirley was a son of the late Perry Odell and Rosie (Jackson) Allen. Shirley worked for the City of Dayton in the Water Department prior to working for Nobles Trucking prior to his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, driving around the town, going to flee markets, telling jokes and spending time with his family. Shirley loved sitting on his porch enjoying the wildlife. Shirley is survived by his son Jerry (Janet) Allen; grandchildren Eric Allen, Joseph Allen, Jason and Kelsey Green, Doug and Maranda Green, Shannon Gray; along with many great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by his wife, Janis Allen; daughter, Sharon Henry; and his siblings. Private Family Services. Burial in Dayton Memorial Park.
