Sheldon Victor Emanuel Ericson, 83 years old, peacefully passed away in his home in Fort Wayne, IN, on May 24th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Sheldon was born on October 7th, 1942, in Rush City, Minnesota, to his parents, Roderick and Harriet. He attended a “two-room schoolhouse” as a child, and later graduated from the University of Minnesota. Soon after, he moved to South Bend, Indiana, for work in insurance and met his wife, Diana. They married on August 24th, 1968. They had two sons together, Marcus and Kale, who were surprisingly born on their third anniversary. In 1978, after moving to several different states, they settled down in Fort Wayne, where they have lived since. He had a love for traveling, Civil War history, geography, watching the Minnesota Vikings (and watching them lose the most important games), and watching the Indianapolis 500 race, to which he attended 51 consecutive years.
Sheldon is survived by his loving wife, Diana, two sons, Marcus and Kale (Anne), and his grandchildren, Emma, Owen, and Stella, as well as his only brother, Rodger (Marge).
Sheldon attended Trinity English Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne as a very active member, formerly in the church choir. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Trinity English Lutheran Church, 450 W Washington Blvd, on Saturday, June 27th, 2026, at 11:00 am, with calling beginning at 9:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity English Lutheran Church Music Program. To sign the online guestbook, go to www.fairhavenfortwayne.com
