Donald "Scott" Strawser, 59, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022, at home in Midvale, Utah after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on December 13, 1962, to Donald L. and Marilyn L. Strawser. He was a great fan of planes, trains, and automobiles. His second greatest love (after his wife) was his 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. In 2012 his fondness for history resulted in an opportunity to review his ancestry and write a book with his cousin about the genealogy of the family as well as the story of his many greats grandfather's experiences in the Civil War. He was so proud when his book was included in the Allen County Public Library as well as the Family History Library in Salt Lake City (long before he knew he would move to the area). Scott also greatly enjoyed traveling, taking his wife on many adventures to Hawaii, multiple times as well as England, France, and Italy all of which she will cherish. Many of these travels included visits to local zoos, another activity he very much enjoyed. Scott is survived by his wife of almost 30 years Ruth (Marquart), his father, Donald, and his beloved pug, Mia. Scott's mother, Marilyn, preceded him in death in 2015. Scott died holding Ruth's hand at home where he wanted to be. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 6 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana with calling from 4 pm until the service. Memorials in lieu of flowers can be made in his honor to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo at kidszoo.org/memorials.
