Obituary

Sandra Jean "Sandy" Maloney, 72, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born in Wheelwright, Kentucky, Sandy was a daughter of the late Boyd and Stella Thornsbury. Sandy graduated from Wheelwright High School, class of 1971. She married Michael Maloney on February 12, 1977 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During her working years, Sandy did clerical and accounting work for Mallers Spirou Management, North American Van Lines and Fort Wayne Cardiology prior to her retirement. She was a devoted wife, and loving mother to her son Matt. She attended and supported her son in his baseball and school activities. Their family also enjoyed going to Komet Hockey games. Family was so important to Sandy. She was a meticulous housekeeper and enjoyed coloring books. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Michael Maloney; son, Matt (Alissa) Maloney; brother, Denny (Opal) Thornsbury; and their family dog, Millie. Sandy was preceded in death by her siblings, Gordon "Buster" Thornsbury, Carlos Thornsbury, Benney Thornsbury, Ishmael Thornsbury, Betty Darety, Barb Bailey, and Rosalee Isaac. Service is 11 am, Saturday, July 12, 2025 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling one hour prior. Calling also at the funeral home on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm. Burial will be at St. Vincent's Oratory Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or National Kidney Foundation.
