Sandra "Sandy" Kay Billingslea, age 70, of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Sandy was born on September 1, 1953 in Beverly, KY and was the daughter of Woodrow and Violetta Asher. She graduated college with an Associates Degree in Nursing. Sandy loved spending time with family, reading scripture, playing Scrabble, quilting, sewing, studying flowers and birds, sightseeing, and watching anything that her granddaughters were doing with great enthusiasm.
Sandy is survived by her son, Richard "Alan" Ponder and his wife, Kristy; stepchildren, Angela Billingslea, and Rodney (Suzanne) McGhee; grandchildren, Anna Ponder and Ella Ponder; sisters, Peggy Sue (Curtis) Collins, Eva Bender; brother-in-law, Burley Asher, many more stepchildren; and special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Billingslea; sister, Bonnie Asher; brothers, Fred Asher, Robert Asher, Dan Asher, and Richard Asher.
A Celebration of Life will be held at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne St., in Fort Wayne on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 2 pm.
