IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth
Lengacher
November 4, 1942 – August 11, 2025
Marilyn "Ruth" Lengacher
, age 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 11, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Fort Wayne, Ruth was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne and proud to be a North Side Redskin. She built a career in sales, working for multiple corporations over the years, and was known for her determination, charm, and hard work. Ruth was married to her beloved husband, Harry, for 40 years, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures.
She embraced life with a fun-loving spirit—whether cruising the open seas, enjoying meals at her favorite restaurants, or celebrating Taco Tuesdays. An avid collector of Pepsi memorabilia, Ruth even built a special room in her home to house her extensive collection. In her younger years, she loved spending time with friends, always ready for a good laugh and a bit of fun.
Ruth was a faithful member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and an active participant in community groups, including the Lady Bugs and the Red Hat Society. A two-time cancer survivor, she faced life's challenges with courage and a spark that never dimmed. Her "spit-fire" personality, boundless energy, and love for those around her will be remembered with joy by all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Harry Lengacher; daughters, Renee Hodgin of Goodyear, AZ, Jodi Abel (Christopher Maschi) of Port Charlotte, FL and Kristi Abel of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, David "Rudy" (Jill) Hieber Jr of Fort Wayne, Justin Adams of Indianapolis, Anna (Jeff) Stoppenhagen, Jonathan Adams of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Katie Hodgin, Brayden Hieber and Alice Stoppenhagen. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Goldie Woods; siblings, Eddie, Betty (BJ) and Helen; son-in-law, Timothy Hodgin and step-daughter, Amy Lengacher.
