Obituary

Ruebin Barron, age 70, of New Haven, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with liver and bone cancer. In his final days, with his daughter Sharon by his side, he left this world with love and peace.

Ruebin was born on August 19, 1955, in Sterling, Illinois, to the late Jose and Jacqueline Barron. He grew up in a large, close-knit family of twelve children.

A born survivor with a strong will and stubborn determination, Ruebin lived his life on his own terms. He was a free spirit who loved to travel, meet new people, and experience life fully. Ruebin had a deep love for music and dancing, and could often be found enjoying the rhythm of a good song or the story of a western movie. He carried a proud connection to his Native American heritage, which remained an important part of who he was.

He shared his life with his beloved partner, Sherrell Coronado.

Ruebin is survived by his children: Tammy Barron of Illinois, Erika Mancilla of Lubbock, TX, Sharon Barron of New Haven, IN, Jacqueline Barron (Dwayne Burke) of Granite City, IL, Jessica Barron of Granite City, IL, Antonio (Amanda) Barron of Gillespie, IL, Jacob Sexlan, and Amanda Barron Prather. He was a proud grandfather to 22 grandchildren and great-grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren. Ruebin is also survived by his siblings: Teri Mullen, Rachel Lumpkins, Diana (Fred Montiel), Anna Marie Ramos, Robert Barron, Alicia (Webster Hinton), Beatrice (Tim Schrader), Eddie Barron, Loretta (Tim Ettinger), and Candy Barron (Lamont Coy).

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Rachel; sister, Linda Holloway; brothers, Jose and Emilio Barron; and sister-in-law, Theresa Barron, brother in law Louis Ramos, grandsons Kyle and Dylan and great grandson Blain.

Ruebin's memory will live on through the love he gave, the music he danced to, and the many lives he touched. His adventurous and resilient spirit, his love for family, and his pride in his heritage will never be forgotten.

Funeral or memorial service details will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
