Rose Ellen Marquart, age 82, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Rose touched countless lives through her compassion, creativity, and unwavering dedication to others.
Born in Fort Wayne to Albert and Ruth Messerschmidt, Rose was a woman of many talents and passions. For over 30 years, she worked as a preschool director and teacher, nurturing and guiding young children with warmth and patience. Her artistic spirit was evident in all she did, from her creative endeavors to her love of storytelling and letter writing, always sharing a bit of herself with those she loved.
An active and faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church, Rose found joy in her community and lived a life rooted in faith. Her kindness and generosity were felt by everyone who knew her, whether in her professional role, her church activities, or through the personal stories she so loved to share.
She is survived by her loving children, daughters Ruth Strawser and Jessica Marquart, and sons Jacob (Elizabeth) Marquart and Reid Marquart. Rose also cherished her role as a grandmother to her precious granddaughter, Lily.
Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Marquart, who passed in 1984, as well as her parents, Albert and Ruth Messerschmidt, and her brother, Don Messerschmidt.
A memorial service for Rose will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 6 pm with visitation beginning at 3 pm at St John Lutheran Church, 729 W. Washington Blvd. Fort Wayne. Burial will take place at St John Lutheran Cemetery at a later date
Preferred memorials may be directed to the family in care of Jacob Marquart to assist with final expenses.
