Obituary

Ronald Merle "Ron" Shappell, 86, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023. Born in Lansing, Michigan, Ron was a son of the late Frederick and Vivian (Myers) Shappell. Ron was a truck driver with Super Value for 40 years, prior to his retirement. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Ron loved coaching, playing, and watching softball and baseball. He was an avid fisherman and would take yearly trips with his brothers to fish. Ron also enjoyed growing pumpkins, gourds, and traveling. He was a devoted husband, loving dad, and caring grandpa to his family. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Phyllis Shappell; children, Randal (Cathy) Shappell, Jeff (Laurie) Shappell, Jill (Steve Munson) Smith; grandchildren, Luke, Wesley, Jarrod, Jordan, Conner; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Neil Shappell, Suzie Boyle, Evelyn Shappell, and Phyllis (Darrell) Wells. Ron was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Charles, Jerry, Steven, and Paul Shappell, and Sally Lawrence. Service is 10 am, Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 8405 Lima Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also Friday, February 24, 2023 from 4 pm to 7 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street. Burial in Huntertown, Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church.
