Ronald "Ron" Lee Ashby, 79, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021. Born March 23, 1942 in New Castle, IN., he was the son of Doris and William Ashby. He was married to his eternal companion, Peggy on September 19, 1964. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served faithfully for 55 years. Ron is survived by his brother Milton (Barb) Ashby. The loving father and example to Alyson (Scott) Braun of Fort Wayne, Adam (Cindy) Ashby of Wellington, Colorado, Holly (Dave) Bodily of Stafford, Virginia, April (Bob) McMahon of Huntertown, Michael (Michelle) Ashby of Fort Wayne, and Joshua (Katie) Ashby of Fort Wayne. Ron was the adored grandfather of 19 grandchildren: Ashley (Travis) Stove, Blake (Audrey) Braun, Justin (Elly), Brianna (Steven) Summerhays, Jenna, Porter, Rennes Bodily, Savannah Bodily, Emma (Eric) Mitchell, Jordan Bodily, David Jackson Bodily, Alexander, Abigail, Christopher, Carter, Bentley, Dallas, Hendrix and Kaliana. He was also blessed with 6 great-grandchildren: Kinsley, Clara, Amelia, Stevie, Boyd, and Eloise. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Ann Ashby, and his parents. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 22 from 4-5:30 PM at FairHaven Funeral Home, 6557 North Clinton St, Fort Wayne, IN. A memorial service will begin at 11 AM on Monday, August 23 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 5401 St. Joe Rd, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation one hour prior. The family requests that masks are worn. A private burial will be held at the Markle Cemetery.
