Roger D. Haupert, 71, peacefully passed away at home while surrounded by loved ones on Monday, July 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Wabash, Indiana, Roger was the son of the late Willis Haupert and Doris (Duhamell) Haupert.
Roger began his career as an over-the-road truck driver at just 16 years old and spent more than 50 years traveling the nation's highways. Throughout his career, he logged over 5 million miles and drove for several companies before eventually owning and operating his own business, RDH Carriers.
Roger was confident in his abilities and knowledge—and he wasn't shy about letting you know it. He had a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, and a laid-back personality that made him memorable to everyone who knew him. He loved classic cars, especially his 1966 Dodge Charger, enjoyed attending car shows, playing Snood, and, perhaps most of all, stirring up a little harmless trouble with his family and friends just to keep everyone on their toes.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Patti Haupert; sister, Kim (Larry) Schaefer; his faithful dog, Jake; nieces and nephews, Kristy (Daniel) Scheerer, Matthew Schaefer, and Jason (Kristy) Schaefer; and great-nieces, Abernathy and Beatrix.
A Celebration of Roger's Life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana (https://www.google.com/maps/search/6557+N.+Clinton+Street,+Fort+Wayne,+Indiana?entry=gmail&source=g).
Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
