Rodney "Rod" Wayne Cary, 46, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 at I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Born in Nashville, Tennessee Rodney was the son of the late Shelton Wayne Cary and Patsy Cary who survives. Rod graduated from Northrop High School class of 1993. There he met the love of his life, Tonya (Goodman) Cary and started a wonderful life together. Rod was a man of his word, a true man of integrity and was willing to sacrifice his time and life for others. That is why he was a vol. fireman. For many years he worked at St. Joe/ Washington Township, and Northeast Fire to serve his community to the best of his abilities. Rod worked for Parker Service, helping all those in need after an accident. Rod enjoyed starting his day out on his porch having a coffee. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going mudding, fishing, watching NASCAR, playing with his RC cars, and hosting bonfires with his one of a kind burnt hotdogs. Surviving are his wife, Tonya Cary; children, Dominick (Anna) Cary, Amber Turnbow, Brittaney (Derek) Gunter, Katelyn Cary; grandchildren, Brooklyn Rose, Lukas, Hunter, and Emmilia; biological father, Paul Ray Stewart Sr.; second mom, Elaine Eme; siblings, Jolene (Larry) Dailey, Shelton (Jackie) Cary Jr., Paul (Tricia) Stewart, Jimmy Stewart; in laws, Thomas and Debra Schlup; his beloved dogs Bailey and Spot; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. Service is 4 pm, Sunday, September 5, 2021 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street with calling from 12pm until the service. Memorials may be made to the family.
