Obituary

Robert “Marshall” Vonderau, 75, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2026 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Born in Fort Wayne Marshall was the son of the late Robert and Alberta Vonderau.
Marshall Vonderau was a storyteller.
He wasn’t on social media, but he was the most socially connected man I knew. He called his friends and cousins every day. He valued his friendships deeply and made people feel important.
His humor and wisdom were always delivered with his signature smirky smile and those laughing, squinty eyes. He was calm and patient—always listening, teaching and guiding, quietly and confidently.
So many people truly loved him, and we understand why. But he was ours. Our family farm on Parent Road, where he tinkered while Mom fixed dinner, was the safe home they built together.
Marshall was an active and beloved member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
We are so lucky. We were the best part of his day, right up until his last days. And we are so grateful that we got to be Marshall’s girls.
Surviving are his daughters, Dani (Alex) Kiefer, Kara (Ben Rist-Brown) Vonderau, Rachel Vonderau; granddaughters, Amelia and Becca Kiefer and sister, Elaine (Dick) Nietert. Marshall was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Constance “Connie” Vonderau.
Service is 11 am, Friday, August 21, 2026 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 7710 E. State Blvd, with calling one hour prior. Calling also on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 2 pm to 4 pm and 6 pm to 8 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
