Robert (Bob) Soden (76) of Ft. Wayne, IN passed away on February 22, 2026. Born in West Virginia, he spent most of his early life in Kirkwood, Missouri. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 1971, he began his career at Gary, Indiana’s US Steel. Bob loved to fix things and enjoyed his job as an engineering manager at US Steel, then as part of a start-up for Nucor Steel in Crawfordsville, and finally at Steel Dynamics, Inc. in Butler, Indiana.

He leaves behind Susan, his beloved wife of 47 years, children Rob (Nicole) Soden of Lafayette, Indiana, daughter Martha (Jason Hayman) of Waynesboro, Virginia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Evelyn Soden, and his twin sister Gayle.

In his career he has been described as “the best boss ever,” a father-figure, an uncle, and a brother. He will be missed by many.

Calling will be on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4 pm to 7 pm located at Fairhaven Funeral Home (6557 North Clinton Street). A funeral service will be on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10 am located at Resurrection Lutheran Church (14318 Lima Road) with calling from 9 am until the service.
