Robert Allen "Bob" Simmons, 81, passed away at his home on Friday, July 7, 2023. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Bob was the son of the late Allen and Elizabeth Simmons. Bob graduated from South Side High. He went on to further his education at Purdue University to earn his bachelors degree in mathematics and his masters degree from the University of St. Francis in secondary education. During his working career, Bob taught at various schools, mostly in middle school, high school, and some college courses, mostly mathematics. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn, watching BBC American along with YouTube. Bob loved his family and cherished his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Roberta J. Simmons, children, David N. (Lydia) Simmons, David W. (Elisabeth) Jacoby, Todd R. (Kam) Jacoby; grandchildren, Scott R. (Aubrey Steward) Jacoby, Kathryn J. (Jackson) Odle, Aron L. (Lillian) Jacoby, Michael W. Jacoby, Andrew C. Jacoby; great-grandchildren, Eric, Oliver, Asher and one on the way; and siblings, Joanne (William) Osterholt, Barbara Kelley, and Nancy (Rev. Leslie) Chapman. Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth A. Chesterman in 2004. Private Family Services.
