Robert "Bob" W. Saalfrank, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024. Bob was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne. He graduated from New Haven High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis. Bob graduated from the Indiana University Extension and pursued a career in transportation. In 1986 Bob started in insurance sales with AAL, which became Thrivent Financial in 2002. He was the first representative in Indiana within the company to be inducted into the AAL-Thrivent, "Hall of Fame".
Bob was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, sang in the choir, and he served as an elder and on various committees. He also served on the Board of the Fort Wayne Lutheran Newspaper.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Pat Saalfrank; sons, Scott (Cheryl) Saalfrank of Carmel, IN, Dr. Todd (Karla) Saalfrank of Fort Wayne, IN; Grandchildren, Brandon Saalfrank, Alyssa (Dylan) Yeager, Abigail (Bailey) Swope, Olivia Saalfrank, and Ryan (Sarah) DeMoss; Great Grandchildren, Harper, Rowan, Macsen, Jackson, and Gavin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Saalfrank and Florence Saalfrank (Braun); brother Eugene P. Saalfrank and sister Lavon Koenig.
A funeral service for Bob will take place on Wednesday August 21, 2024 at 11:00 am with calling one hour prior at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Ave. Calling will also take place on Tuesday August 20, 2024 from 4:00-7:00pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. Entombment in Concordia Cemetery Gardens. Preferred memorials in Bob's honor may be directed to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Worship Anew.
