Rita C. Freiburger, 72, of Fort Wayne, Ind, passed away on Friday January 19, 2024. Rita was intelligent and wise and graduated from Central Catholic in 1969 with honors. On September 9, 1972 she wed Norbert Freiburger and they have been happily married for 51 years. Rita retired from the V.A. in 2014 after 33 years of service. She will be remembered as a saint and for her contagious laugh. She had a beautiful, kind, selfless and generous soul. Rita was her children's and grandchildren's most boisterous cheerleader attending their sporting events and activities. Her moral character and competitive spirit was clear to those who knew her. She was especially a loving mom, grandma, and great grandma who cherished being with her family.
Rita is survived by her husband, Norbert; daughters, Lisa and Todd Birch, and Rachel and Andy Hollingsworth; son, Kevin and Amy Freiburger; grandchildren, Zach and Deondra Birch, Courtney and Adam Siebenaler, Colton Birch, Brendan Birch, Wyatt Birch, Aubrey Freiburger, and Lydia Freiburger; great-grandchild, Draven Birch; and 9 loving siblings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday January 25, 2024 at 11:00am with visitation beginning at 10:00 am at St Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd. Visitation will also take place on Wednesday January 24, 2024 from 4:00-7:00 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Preferred memorials may be directed to Cancer Services of North East Indiana.
