Richard "Rick" L. Wood Sr., 71, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, entered into God's Kingdom on January 8, 2024, after a short battle with aggressive liver cancer. Born in Fort Wayne, Rick attended South Side High School. After graduation, he joined the Army at Fort Hood, Texas. After his service, he worked as a machinist at Slater Steel for 18 years, prior to working at BF Goodrich for 10 years, prior to his retirement in 2014. Rick met his wife, Trish, in 1977 at Lynmont Manufacturing Co. They were married on March 29, 1980, and went on to have three children, Jenny, Jessica, and Rick Jr. In addition to being a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather he also loved camping, fishing, hunting and playing rummy. Rick had a distinct and memorable laugh that you could never forget and was always making things into a joke to lighten or enhance any mood. Rick was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. He loved church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with as many people as possible. Rick joins many family members in Heaven who have already passed. He is survived by his wife, Trish Wood; his daughters, Jenny Wood, Jessica (Kane) Rainwater; his son, Rick Wood Jr., and five grandchildren, Nevaeh Hattendorf, Kaidance Hattendorf, David Irwin Jr., Kai Rainwater, and Arabella Rainwater. A private service will take place to honor the memory of Rick. A favorite verse of Rick's is from Romans 8:38-39. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
