Obituary

Richard Eugene Zehr, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and raised in New Haven, Richard was the son of the late Norman and Dolores Zehr. Richard served our country as a US Army veteran and was stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany. He was responsible for the production of thousands of street signs during his 30 years of work for the City of New Haven Utilities prior to retirement in addition to being a licensed auctioneer. Richard was well known for being an Elvis impersonator and a local karaoke enthusiast, indicative of his outgoing personality. He appreciated finding the next bargain at a thrift shop or a garage sale as much as he enjoyed making friends out of complete strangers. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Zehr; son, Brent Zehr; siblings, Barbara Johnson, Donald Zehr and Janice Nuttle. Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am, Saturday, August 25, 2018, at St. Henry Catholic Church, 2929 E. Paulding Road with calling one hour prior, Fr. Daniel Durkin officiating. Calling will be on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven, Indiana.
