Obituary

Richard "Dick" Sims,87, of Fort Wayne passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Dick was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana a son of the late Melvin and Dorothy Sims. He graduated from Elmhurst High School, where he made many friends and met his wife to be Beverly McMullen. While at Elmhurst, Dick was very athletic and was involved in their basketball and baseball programs. Dick and Bev married on November 25th, 1958, in Fort Wayne, Indiana and were married for 66 years until her passing in 2024. Dick worked for International Harvester up until they left Fort Wayne. Dick then worked for Glenbrook Mall for 15 years prior to his retirement. Dick enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their Lake Wawasee house. He enjoyed fishing and hunting throughout his life. Surviving are his sons, Steve (Leisa Jones) Sims, Scott (Connie) Sims; grandchildren, Andrew (Rachel) Sims, Nick Sims, and Lauren Sims; great-grandchildren, Adelaine and Rex Sims. Dick was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Sims and brother, William Sims. Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon on Friday, January 24, 2025, at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 10 am until the services. Entombment will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke, Indiana.
