Richard W. "Dick" Gorges, 91, beloved father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 1, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, surrounded by family.
Born and raised in the Keene, NH, area, Dick earned a degree in mechanical engineering and shared over 50 years of business expertise with General Electric, Tierra Concepts, Santa Fe, NM, S & J Auto Parts, Keene, NH, JBD Golf and several small businesses.
A proud US Army veteran, Dick served in Germany in the early 50's and was deeply honored to join an Honor Flight as a Korean/Cold War veteran in 2022.
Dick lived joyful life filled with curiosity, kindness and a deep love for the outdoors. He especially enjoyed fishing, hiking and time spent in nature. He and his loving partner, Shirley Lambert, shared many wonderful years together, splitting their time between Fort Wayne and Naples, Florida, where they enjoyed an active circle of friends.
Dick is lovingly remembered by his children, Kathryn Gorges, Kevin Gorges and Keith Gorges, three grandchildren, Ian Gorges Wood, Megan Wood Gorges and Misha Gorges; sister Mary Jane Burns; partner Shirley Lambert and her two children, Deb and Dan Lambert and many extended family members. Dick was predeceased by his brother Ronald Gorges and sister Jean Gorges Lake.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Dick's life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in his memory or a memory donation to Byron Health Center, Fort Wayne.
