Richard Dircksen, DVM, 83, passed away May 31, 2017 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was born May 13, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio to Arnold and Magdalene Dircksen.

He married Marilyn "Peggy" Dircksen. Richard was a Veterinarian and owned Garrett Veterinary clinic for many years. He was involved in Dekalb County Community Foundation, Dekalb County Hospital Association.

He was a founding member of the Dekalb County Board of Health. He also was on the Garrett School Board. Richard enjoyed playing Tennis, Skiing, gardening but most of all spending time with his family.

He is survived by three sons, Andrew Dircksen, Eric Dircksen, David (Kelly) Dircksen; four daughters, Patricia (John) Kluesing, Karen (Dan) Thiel, Krista Jeffries and Jane Simoes, One brother, David Dircksen 13 Grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn "Peggy" Dircksen, one brother, Dan Dircksen and one sister, Kathlene Duchack

Memorial contributions may be made to Dekalb County Community Foundation, Peggy Dircksen Fund of Arts.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
