Richard “Dick” D. Cook, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026. He was born to the late Elmer C. and Esther Ruth (Mow) Cook in Rochester, IN on February 5, 1937. He graduated from Richland Center High School. Dick started his career as a meat cutter at Kroger, and then owned two grocery stores Cook’s Super Value in Fort Wayne and in Upland, IN. Dick was a school bus driver for Fort Wayne Community Schools for many years. Then he owned and operated Cook’s Orchard up until the time of his death. Over the years at his orchard, he hosted several tours for local school children. Dick enjoyed traveling with his late wife, Susan K. Cook to Italy, Paris and Hawaii.

Dick is survived by his brothers, Keith (Penny) Cook and Brent (Judy) Cook; sisters, Elaine (John) Klein and Sandra Cook; daughter, Jill; lifelong friend and business partner of 41 years, Keith Franklin; and several nieces, nephews, and beloved customers. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan K. Cook on February 19, 2026; daughters, Mandy and Kim.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 6, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services (6557 N. Clinton Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46825). A graveside service will be on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Avilla, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Fort Wayne.
