Richard P. Beerman, 85, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. He was born on May 26, 1938, to the late Henry P. Beerman and Lorraine E. Smith. Richard retired from The Navistar (International Harvester) Design Center as a Clay-Modeler after 26 years. After that he and his former wife and companion Zella embarked on an adventure of owning and operating Subway Sandwich Shops for 12 years. Richard and Zella traveled extensively. They enjoyed gaming and they loved their pets. Richard is survived by his son, Todd Beerman of Fort Wayne; step-daughter, Tina (Tim) Bly; grandchildren, Ben Bly, Elizabeth (Dan) Stephens; and great-grandson, Oliver Au all of Oregon. Richard was preceded in death by his former wife and companion, Zella (Ellis) Beerman. A Graveside Service will be at 1 pm, Monday, January 29, 2024 at Highland Park Cemetery Chapel, 2403 E. Wallen Road in Fort Wayne. Donations may be made to Humane Fort Wayne or the American Heart Association. FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services is handling arrangements.
