Rebecca Lieland took her final breath on June 6, 2023, at the age of 50.
Becky loved soccer, long country bike rides and family hiking adventures. She loved polar bears and puppies and comfy pants and plants. Never short on silliness, giggles and belly laughs, her vibrant smile and infectious laugh made you feel warm and loved.
She so dearly loved her family and felt her purpose was to raise her children to the best of her abilities – loving, supporting and guiding them. She simply loved being in the present with her husband, children and the family pet.
Her empathy and passion for helping others brought her to complete a master's degree in social work where she chose to provide meaningful paths forward for disadvantaged children, adolescents and families.
Humble yet confident, she made those of us she touched better, but she would have insisted that it was you that inspired her. She was strong, courageous and graceful to the very end – or rather to the end of the beginning.
She is survived by her husband, Spencer Lieland; children, Owen and Emre; mother, Donna Stake; sisters, Christine (Bob Rehse) Stake, Katherine (Scott) McCreery. Becky was preceded in death by her father Robert Stake. The memorial gathering to celebrate Becky's life will be Saturday June 17, 2023 from 11 am to 3 pm at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street.
We invite you to make a donation to Cancer Services in her honor in lieu of flowers. Becky would have preferred that you bring a plant this day instead of flowers and then to take it home with you to enjoy.
