Raymond Paul Quance, 96, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Born in Auburn, Indiana, Raymond was the son of the late William and Martha Quance. Ray married the love of this life Virginia (Hutker) in 1946 and they enjoyed 75 years of marriage together. Ray graduated from Auburn High School, earned his bachelors from Purdue University and his masters from Ball State University. He served our country as a US Navy veteran and earned his pilots wings in 1946. Ray was a teacher and administrator with FWCS from 1951-1984. He was a 60-year member of Waynedale UMC and he built the chapel when the church added the new sanctuary in the 1980's. Ray enjoyed golf, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Quance; children, Dennis Quance, Steven (Sandy) Quance, Sue (Jim) Dowling, Carol (Doug) Ford; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Judy Quance; sister, Helen Grogg; along with many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Michael Quance; siblings, Robert Quance, Mary Ann Kretz, and Dian Quance. Service is 6 pm, Monday, December 20, 2021 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from 3 pm until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waynedale UMC, Heartland Hospice, or Visiting Nurse Hospice.
