Raymond Larry “Ray” Hoverman, 82, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on July 12, 2026. Born on July 3, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Ray lived a life defined by love, dedication, and deep connection to his family.
Ray shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Ginni Hoverman. Together, they built a life centered around family, commitment, and enduring love.
Ray’s career in aviation brought him to Fort Wayne, where he served as Director of Baer Field and Smith Field Airports. While his work in aviation was a significant part of his life, it was his role as an instructor at Ivy Tech Community College that he cherished most. He found great joy in teaching and took pride in sharing his knowledge and passion with others.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Ray held deep respect for his military service. His love of aviation was a lifelong passion, one that reflected both his career and his personal interests.
He was a proud and devoted father to Rob (Jill) Hoverman, Kathy (Heather Bauby) Hoverman, and Lori (Brad) Rosenbaum. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Avery, Mia, Tabatha, Mica, Eleanor, Sylvia, and Hadley. Each of them brought him immense pride and joy.
Ray will be remembered for the love he gave so freely to his family and the steady presence he was in their lives. His impact will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on July 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service to celebrate Ray’s life at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 10001 Coldwater Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46825.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion in Ray’s memory.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
