Ralph Stuart Adams, 81, passed away on April 2, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Ralph was a son of the late Manford and Jeanette Adams. Ralph graduated from Elmhurst High School and earned his Doctorate in Juris Prudence from Indiana University. He then, attended Methodist Seminary from which he earned a Doctorate in Divinity. During this time, he also was awarded a scholarship to study economics at Oxford and to travel throughout Europe. Ralph started working for Legal Services for Maumee Valley. He was a founding member of the AIDS Task Force of Northeast Indiana, which is now the Positive Resource Connection. Ralph always provided legal assistance to disadvantage clients. He was rewarded the Randall T. Shepard Award for Outstanding Pro Bona work from the Supreme Court of Indiana. Ralph was a quiet person (except in court) who spread love and acceptance to all he encountered. He loved traveling, spending time at his lake home piloting his pontoon and riding the wave runners. Ralph also loved watching True Crime stories and IU Basketball. Ralph is survived by his husband, Gary Wells; stepson, Troy (Teresa) Wells; brother, James (Cheryl) Adams, friend and caregiver, Michael Hayes; six nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; five step-brothers and sisters; and fifteen grand and great grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Anne Adams and Patricia Ann Burgess. An informal celebration of Ralph's Life will be Sunday, May 5, 2024 from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Quimby Hall in Fort Wayne near the Clyde. At 2 pm there will be a special time to share inspirational, crazy, funny stories about Ralph.
