Rajat Kumar Chowdhury, 51, of Fort Wayne, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021. Rajat, known as Raj to friends and family, was born to the late Pradip Kumar and Ratna Chowdhury on October 30, 1970 in Kolkata, India. He moved to Fort Wayne to attend IPFW in 1988. He married Janette Shappell on October 17, 1992 and they had two children, Arjun Frederick Kumar and Pooja Marie. Raj co-founded Vision Lighting and helped build the company over the last two decades. Raj loved music, food, cricket, and a good conversation. His grandchildren were a delight to him. He is survived by his wife, Janette; son, Arjun (Samantha) Chowdhury; daughters, Pooja Chowdhury, Katie (Jon) King; grandchildren, Baylor and Parker Chowdhury, Charlotte and Ava King; sister, Ranjita (Samir) Sheth; niece, Kritika; uncle and aunt, Dipak and Monjusree Chowdhury; cousins, Sudip Kumar and Sagar Kumar Chowdhury; along with many extended family members. Service is 2 pm, Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at FairHaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton Street, with calling from noon until the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice in Raj's name.
