Obituary

Phyllis Marie Stanley (Cameron) , a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, nurse, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025 at the age of 89.

Born on January 18, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, Phyllis dedicated her life to caring for others — both in her career as a nurse and in the way she raised her family and welcomed everyone into her home. She was the proud mother of nine children, a loving grandmother and great-grandmother, and a source of comfort and joy to all who knew her.

Phyllis had a rare and generous heart. Her home was a place of warmth, filled with love, creativity, and laughter. She had a deep appreciation for animals, a passion for art, and an unshakable love for her family. Her legacy is carried on in the lives she touched and the values she instilled — kindness, resilience, and showing up for others with your whole heart.

She is survived by her 9 children and their families; Carole, Robert, Kathy, Linda, Thomas, Michael, Richard, Alice and Jeffrey Stanley, and her brother and sister; Alan Cameron and Ruth Casner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert Gould Stanley.

A celebration of Phyllis's life will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church on West Wayne Street. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at 12:00 p.m. at Lindenwood Cemetery.

The family invites you to consider a donation in Phyllis's memory to Humane Fort Wayne or the Alzheimer's Association.
