Phyllis Elaine (Mays) Bush, age 76, of Fort Wayne passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022 at her home. She was born in Fort Wayne, to the late Henry and Estella Mays and graduated from Central High School in 1963 where she was honored as the salutatorian. Phyllis was a music teacher with Fort Wayne Community Schools for 33 years, teaching 25 years at Waynedale Elementary. She was a faithful member of United Faith Presbyterian Church where she served as the church organist and choir director for many years. She also managed the church thrift store with her dear friend Beverly Evans. Phyllis was an active member of the Central High School Alumni Association. She was an avid reader, gardener, and loved history, especially researching her family ancestry. She is survived by her children, Coleen (Kiko) Arribasplata of Fort Wayne and Ryan (Tracee) Bush of New Haven, IN; 5 grandchildren, Carmina, Martín, Paola, Katelynn, and Jacob; and siblings, Ken Mays, Paul (Darlene) Mays, and Steve Mays. Phyllis was also preceded in death by her brother, David Mays and sisters, Beverly Hewitt, and Carol Rash. Service 11:00 am, Saturday, June 25, 2022 at United Faith Presbyterian Church, 1616 W. Main St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, June 24, 2022 at Fairhaven Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 6557 N. Clinton St. Burial at Highland Park Cemetery.
