Philip Steven Tapp, age 70, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away July 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Fort Wayne to the late Philip D. and Joan Tapp.
Steve spent his career as a skilled meat cutter, beginning at Parrot Packing Company and Tapps Family Meat Market before later working for Kroger and Save-a-Lot. He enjoyed his work and the relationships he built along the way.
He loved Purdue basketball, time spent fishing, and the music of Elvis. More than anything, Steve cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his dog, Copper.
Steve is survived by his wife of 44 years, Holly Tapp; children, Philip (Mandy) Tapp, Kristen Tapp, Lucas (Marisa) Tapp; three grandchildren, Emerson, Blaise, and expecting his granddaughter, Nora; and siblings, Karen Stellhorn, Scott Tapp, Gregg Tapp, and Jeff (Amy) Tapp.
He was also preceded in death by son, Drew S. Tapp; siblings, Kim (Steve) Martin, Diane Rooney, Mark (April) Tapp, and Maureen (Dave) Shepherd.
A memorial service is 10:00 am, Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 2305 Goshen Rd., with calling one hour prior beginning at 9:00 am. Celebration of Life to follow at Eagles FOE 248, 4940 Bluffton Rd. Memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
