Philip Titus Sheets, Sr, 88, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026 in Punta Gorda, FL. He was born in Fort Wayne, IN to Ralph H Sheets Sr and Adele Sheets both departed. Phil graduated from Northside High School in Fort Wayne, IN and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at Purdue University. He served in the United States Air Force in Chambley, France.
Phil had contagious zest for life, enjoying good times, sports, and joking with family and friends. He was a loving, devoted husband of 50 years to Marsha Rolf Sheets until she passed away in 2012. Their love was an inspiration to everyone around them, radiating joy and love to all who were lucky to have been a part of their lives. Phil owned WA Sheets & Sons Construction Company and built or project managed many commercial landmarks lining the Fort Wayne skyline.
Phil was a protective and encouraging father of three children and an active grandfather of twelve. He is survived by his daughter, Angie (Mark) Trowbridge; his daughter Mindi (John) Brincefield; grandchildren Bailey, Phil III, McKenna, Dylan, Andrew, Natalie, Reagan, Blake, Addison, Sophie, and Dexter; four great grandchildren; and his brother Ralph Sheets, Jr. He was proceeded in death by his son, Phil Sheets, Jr, his granddaughter, Kylie Sheets, his sister, Patricia (Bill) Fisher, and brother, William Sheets. Phil not only deeply enriched the lives of her family with his love, guidance, and altruism; he also had many friends and acquaintances that he touched deeply with his love and support.
Phil volunteered for the Fort Wayne Embassy Theatre Board, Allen County Board of Health, the Police Athletic League, Placida Harbour Club, Purdue President’s Club, John Purdue Club, and others. His hobbies included boating, fishing, walking, cheering for Purdue, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Phil enjoyed traveling with family and friends and particularly enjoyed spending time in Placida, Florida. Phil will be celebrated and remembered for his smile and sense of humor.
Private family services will be held. Phil would most appreciate you enjoying time with friends and family; for those who wish, memorials may be made to the Police Athletic League of Fort Wayne, or Purdue University. FairHaven Funeral Home in Fort Wayne has been entrusted.
