Paul R. "Jeep" Shaffer, 86, of New Haven died Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Heritage Park Nursing Home. Paul was born September 13, 1931 in Monroeville to the late Gilbert and Alta (Hart) Shaffer. He retired from Tokheim in 1993 after 43 years of service. Paul was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven and the Quarter Century Club. He enjoyed watching I.U. sports, the Chicago Cubs and especially his grandkids' events. He liked working in his yard, mowing the lawn and walking each morning to get his cup of coffee.
Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Jeanne (Stasell) Shaffer of New Haven; children, Brenda Himmelhaver of Port Charlotte, FL; Lynn (Sheri) Shaffer of New Haven; Renee (Bruce) Towsley of Fort Wayne; Gayle (Brenda) Shaffer of New Haven and Melea (Rick) Kumming of Punta Gorda, FL; 13 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; brother, Stan (Norma) Shaffer of New Haven and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandson, Nathan Bowman; son-in-law, Bob Himmelhaver; brother, Ford Shaffer and sister, Arla Shaffer.
Mass of Christian Burial is 11: 00 AM Monday, December 11 ,2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers Street, New Haven with visitation one-hour prior. Visitation also 2 – 6 PM Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Fairhaven Funeral Home 6557 N. Clinton Street with a vigil at 4 PM.
Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
