Patricia "Pat" Jeanine Henderson, 88, of Leo, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. She was born in Henry Township, Fulton County, Indiana on April 10, 1935 to the late George Raymond and Ann (Sissel) Burkett. She was a longtime member of the Leo United Methodist Church, and more recently attended Central Ministries, Leo Campus, where she was part of the welcome team.
Pat began working as an insurance office secretary in Rochester, IN, when she was still a teenager, and worked locally at Worman-Lightfoot Insurance, among others. She also worked as a math-science para-professional at Leo Jr.-Sr. High School, and came out of retirement to work as a classroom aide for the Leo UMC Pre-school.
Pat loved music, especially southern gospel, and began singing for church at age 5. When she was 9 years old, she led the local Athens United Brethren church choir, and over the years was a frequent soloist for weddings, church, and other gatherings. She sang in the Leo UMC choir for 46 years, occasionally leading the choir and playing the piano for worship. Their love for music programs and travel, prompted Pat and her late husband, Tad, to begin hosting Henderson Tours bus trips to various destinations around the country. Most of all, Pat loved her Lord, praying for others, and spending time with her family and friends.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Cheri (Randy) Kipfer of Leo and Lori (David) Ackerman of Zionsville; four grandchildren, Nathan (Elissa) Kipfer of Fort Wayne, Randa (Tyler) Witmer of Leo, Josh (Ashley) Ackerman of Raleigh, NC, and John (Amelia) Ackerman of Fort Wayne; seven great-grandchildren, Trace, Cole, Sammie, Dessa, Natalie, Madelyn and Sloane; and sister, Nita Kuhn of Nappanee. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Larry Tad Henderson and brother, Bob Burkett.
A memorial service will be held at Leo Methodist Church, Saturday, August 12th, at 11:30 AM with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Cedars.
