Obituary
Orval Eli Haaff, Jr. went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2025 at the age of 99. He died peacefully in his home at Georgetown Place surrounded by family.
He was born in Indianapolis August 27, 1925 to Clare and Orval Haaff, Sr. As a product of growing up in the Great Depression, he learned to survive the hard times and the value of having economic security. He graduated high school from Washington High School in Indianapolis in 1943. He then enlisted in the Army College Program and served in General Clark's 5 th Army in Italy where he received a Purple Heart.
Following his military service he graduated from Indiana University with a business degree. He went into industrial sales with the Bostich division of Stanley where he worked until his retirement in 1990.
In 1951 he married Zina Ida Matwiejew and had a happy marriage of 66 years before she passed away. They resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana for most of their life. Orval is survived by his sons Eric (Kim) and Mark (Marcia), grandsons Joel (Catie), Kyle, Taylor and great grandson George.
Orval and Zina were lifelong members of Unity Church and served on the board and various committees. He was a member of the Summit City Masonic Lodge #170, a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite and a life member of The Military Order of the Purple Hearts. Orval's hobbies included golf, bowling, Bridge, reading, working puzzles and activities with family and friends. His priorities during life were faith, family and country.
Orval was blessed with good health, good friends, a long life and above all, a loving family.
A private family burial will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis around the date of what would have been his 100 th birthday.
